Rachel Jovic‘Kaleidoskop Mitmach-Projekte e.V.’ is a charitable organisation, which has been working in Frankfurt since 1989, responsible for cultural-educational projects. In the first few years many interactive display projects appeared and therefore the close cooperation with the Museum for Communication grew. The Kaleidoskop ‘Kinderwerkstatt’ (childrens workshop) is still one of the most popular events that the museum has to offer for families with children in Frankfurt.
This sort of close cooperation between educational establishments and the organisation then became interesting for general education in schools, within the development for ‘Ganztagsschule’ (all-day school).
Therefore from 2003, Kaleidoskop became responsible for the afternoon’s events in ‘Musterschule’ (grammar school for the city of Frankfurt) and an extensive program for work and project groups has built up there, which is used by roughly 250 pupils.
Since 2006, Kaleidoskop has now been working together with the Lichtigfeld School. In the afternoons, when the pupils have no compulsory teaching, Rachel Jovic, together with her team of casual workers, organises the afternoon program for registered children from Class 2 upwards. After communal lunch, they stock up on fresh air and then homework is done. Afterwards they can then join in with game and creative groups or opt for cooperation in teamwork in the areas of sport, language or creativity.
Together with the children, we looked for an appropriate name for this afternoon program and found one: EmuNaScheLi.
